Vito A. Costanzo is a partner in the Litigation Section of the Los Angeles office of Holland & Knight LLP. He has experience in the litigation of software and technology licensing disputes, infringement and misappropriation of intellectual property rights, trade secrets, breach of contract claims, real property rights, partnership disputes, wrongful termination, employment discrimination and fraud cases. Mr. Costanzo was formerly employed as a trial attorney by the Los Angeles County District Attorneys' office. He has conducted both jury and non-jury trials and appeals and has practiced before federal and state courts in California, federal courts in various states, the American Arbitration Association and J.A.M.S./Endispute.
Mr. Costanzo's representation of software companies includes litigation involving programs used in automated red light enforcement systems, digital media distribution and central system alarm systems. He has represented several clothing companies and bottling companies in trademark infringement and counterfeiting litigation. Mr. Costanzo has extensive experience in trade secrets litigation in a broad range of industries, including software consulting, title insurance and health care.
Mr. Costanzo's real property litigation experience includes commercial lease disputes, adverse possession and title insurance coverage. His product liability experience includes litigation involving exposure to asbestos and construction machinery defects.
Mr. Costanzo is a member of the Software Council of Southern California, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Costanzo is a member of the Board of Governors of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation and member of the organizing committee for the Los Angeles Venture Association's 2007 Investment Capital Conference. Mr. Costanzo received his B.A. in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1984 and his J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1987.
