LOS ANGELES – Salman Ullah, Google Inc.’s director of corporate development, and Sean Dempsey, corporate development principal, will be the keynote speakers at the Los Angeles Venture Association’s Investment Capital Conference on Wednesday, April 11, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
“We are very excited to have Salman and Sean,” said Conference Co-Chair Nevin Sanli. “These guys have had the biggest checkbooks in business for many years. They will provide unique insights into buying and strategic decision making from people who have been at the top level at the most significant players in the field.”
Among other deals, Ullah and Dempsey were primarily responsible for Google’s high-profile acquisition of YouTube last year.
Ullah joined Google as director of corporate development in 2004. He manages the team responsible for all of the company’s acquisitions and minority investments. Prior to joining Google, he spent more than seven years at Microsoft in several roles, including general manager of corporate strategy and managing director of corporate development. He has a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Stanford University.
Dempsey joined Google as principal of corporate development in 2005. He is a senior member of the team responsible for all of the company’s acquisitions and minority investments. Prior to joining Google he spent more than six years at Microsoft in a corporate development capacity, most recently as director.
